Round 11 Review against Sorrento

E-mail Print

Saturday’s trip to Sorrento saw all three Crib Point teams go down.  On face value, the three losses look bad, however Sorrento are a pretty slick outfit and there were some good signs for all three teams who were undermanned against their stronger opponents.

The Under 18s had a red hot crack against Sorrento who are genuine flag contenders in Nepean Division.  Early on in the piece the game was end to end and the Unders managed to go goal for goal, however early in the second the game was broken open and the boys were just unable to match it with Sorrento.

Rosebud Review

Well this week it was Crib Point under 18s who kicked straight and their Rosebud counterparts who kicked errantly as the Under 18s bounced back from their disappointing Pearcedale loss to snare a nail-biting one point victory on Saturday.

Big Micky Eaton was superb in the ruck and Sammy Adams form just keeps getting better by the week and Beau Monty continued his consistent season as well.

Round 9 Review vs Pearcedale

Saturday at Pearcedale was not a great day for Crib Point with all three teams being beaten by their Pearcedale counterparts.

The Under 18s probably played their worst game for the year when they were beaten by a more dedicated Pearcedale outfit.  Wokka’s charges did not have their kicking boots on with a miserable 3.10 on the board at half time, however the boys were up against it all day after being jumped five goals to one in the 1st quarter.

Round 8 Review vs Hastings

One of the biggest crowds seen for a home and away game at the Point turned out to watch the highly anticipated clash between Crib Point and Hastings.  Crib Point were far too strong in 4 of the 5 games with the Netballers, Under 18s and Reserves getting the chocolates although the main game fell Hastings' way as they finished the game much stronger to run home with a 10 point victory.

The seniors had their chances and actually led for the majority of the game but lost their second consecutive close game.  Unfortunately for Duane Annable, his 200th senior game for Crib Point would not finish on a winning note.

Crib Point champion Duane Annable plays his 200th senior game for Crib Point Football Club against Hastings at Crib Point on Saturday 30 May 2009.  Duane was named on the wing for the big clash.

Duane has achieved plenty throughout his football career and in addition to the 199 senior games at Crib Point, Duane has also played football for Frankston Dolphins at VFL level for a season in 2000 and played two seasons for the Waratahs in the NTFL.
